Now, reread the original post. Polly says she gave the landowner the seeds
and he started them in his greenhouse. Polly is doing all the current work
-- but they are his plants. And his land. She didn't sound unhappy with the
arrangement, she just wants the ones she planted and has called her own to
do well.
The landowner isn't trying to steal her pumpkins.

I grow on someone else's land because he lets us grow there. My dad does his
taxes for free for compensation, too. If it is MY seed, then any plant grown
from it would definitely be mine! A plant is nothing more than a nourished
embryo! If I ate someone else's food or water, and later they wanted to
claim
it back, they could not say they "owned" part of me!
