Here is more of little value on my flat vine experience.
On my LaRue 750 the main went into flat vine about 8 feet out. Since there
were many strong secondaries from the stump area, I let it go. It grew slowly
for four more feet as a flat vine, then turned into two rounds. Now at four
more feet, each of the two rounds has a female blossom. I will pollinate them
and see what happens.
BTW, I have a Bouganvilla (that's not spelled right, I can tell) - thorny,
highly colorful, climbing vine plant common to warmer areas than this, which
suffered in the freeze we had this winter. As it was recovering, IT had a
flat vine. Never saw that before, ever.
