OK, My two cents worth (probably more like 1 cent
worth :) )
Timers are a great inexpensive way to automate
your watering chores.
If you wish to get an idea for how long to run
each cycle you might
consider trying this:
Find yourself a medium size container with tall
straight sides.
A square or rectangular one is best due to the
next step.
Calculate the number of square inches at the
bottom of the container.
Place the container at the center of the area your
sprinklers reach.
Turn on the water.
Time how long it takes to fill the container with
one inch of water.
You can use this time as a guideline for adjusting
your timer intervals.
I don't think anyone can tell you exactly how much
water you'll need but
by always using the same timing scale (X amount of
time to 1 inch of water) you can better judge your
setup as conditions change.

It worked great for 3 months and then shorted out, but I just exchanged it for a new one (Home Depot is good about honoring things like this) and it has worked like a charm ever since. As far as I know, there is no way to calculate the amount of gallons going through the hose. But is sure is nice not having to worry about making sure your pumpkins are watered even when your gone!
