> I have a 625 in my patch. It was the first seed I germinated indoors on
20
> April. It is growing vigorously.
> I have several pumpkins on it. The oldest has the following stats.
> July 2-----7.5 inch circumference
> July 4----11.6
> July 6----17.5
> July 8----23.5
> July 9----27
> July 11---29+
> July 13---33+
> I have slipped a piece of foam backer (used by picture hangers as support
in
> framing pictures)under it ..
> Weather here has been desert-like. Hot days (80-90),
> warm nights (50-65) and virtually no rain. So, I water frequently.
> Pumpkin too heavy to lift now (my bad back) for true circumference.

JULY 23
I made the recommended type of measurements today and got the following:
Over the top---------47.5 inches
end-to-end-----------43.0 inches
circumference-------60.0 inches
TOTAL---------------150.5 inches
I have two others on the same plant that are coming along but are smaller.
But they are growing fast. .
I had one pumpkin that was a creamy white color that started to look funny.
I felt it and it was soft. It was about the size of a cantaloupe. I sliced it
off and cut it open. Nothing unusual inside. Skin was starting to show some
slight brown spots.. Sprayed patch with fungicide.
Still hot with no rain for a long period. I water when the soil is dry down
to a depth of about 1 inch.
I need a bigger tape for measuring next week.!!!!
This is my 1st year and I am amazed at the growth of these babies..
