Yeah....now I fee a bit embarassed. (Just a BIT). I didn't notice that he was
the one who posted the original message. O.K., my slip. I did apoligize to
Scott if I offended him. It certainly wasn't my intention. Also I still
wanted to point out that I actually ended that post on a POSITIVE comment
about the seed. But no one seemed to see that part. Interesting.

I usually use other lighthearted/humorous posts on the list as a "litmus
test" to see the type of humor that people will "get" on the list (as well as
anywhere else). I see similar posts of humor from others, and even some
downright "raw" humor. I see people joking with each other, witty little jabs
that are all in fun. Now I have been on the list for over a year, and I would
think I could make a few little comments that I think someone might think is
a little funy without offending anyone, yet for some reason people start
yelling at me. It is really odd. I am really pretty good at judging the
"appropriateness" of humor in different situations. That's why it is so
confusing.
I probably wouldn't have made the reply about the 301 seed if I knew that
Scott posted the original message, if not for any other reason than it just
isn't as funny. The joke was supposed to be that someone was warning us about
a cursed seed, and I replied with "hysterical laughter", saying basically
"duh!" that we all already knew about it. Then to make sure I didn't get
hounded for that coment, I added a positive remark about the seed, implying
that maybe it was growing the next world record. It was just all in fun. But
I guess everyone makes THEIR jokes early in the day, and reads mine after
they have been out in the heat for hours in the patch, tired and grumpy. Who
knows! Oh well.
