Re: Armada update

Paul,
Clean up all the damaged leaves and vines and you will be amazed how quickly
these plants recover. I've been there and done it!
I wrote to the pumpkin list about severe plant damage from hail and high
winds on July 3rd. At the time, I didn't think I could save any of the
plants. Many of the great people on this list urged me to not give up. I
removed all the broken leaves and vines, I would say at least 80 percent of
each plant was cut away. It all but killed me to do it. After 2 weeks, 3 of
my 4 plants had made a full recovery. Now at the 20 day mark, one could look
out in my garden tonight and not even notice anything bad had happened.
Good luck and hang in there, you'll be smiling again real soon!

<< Ouch.

We had a big storm blow through this afternoon. Some rain, no hail, but
lotsa wind. Mia, my Zehr 1061, seems to be a tough ol' girl and weathered
the storm with only a few damaged leaves. Briana, my P&P 800+ AG, didn't do
so well. Leaves were toppled, vines twisted and split, 4" vine roots
 plucked like unlucky eyebrow hairs.

I gently righted the vines, recovered the roots, and gave her a pep talk.

We're keeping a good thought and remain ever hopeful.
