Losing females

I seems to be losing females on two plants:

550 Failor and a unknown weight Langevin, I have several female buds. I
have been watching closely since females have been scarce this season. On
these plants, the females are turning brown and seem to be dying although
surrounding male buds still look promising. On the Langevin, one green
female seems fine.
Could the females be failing because of heat & humidity? (we had several
brutal days).

I water every other day...soaker and overhead....fertilize every two weeks
with Miracle Grow....each plant receives about 7.5-8 hours of sun daily.
Other plants between these two are doing fine as far as the females are
concerned.

Any thoughts?

Kristina
(The weed whacker did not venture near these plants!)
