you are correct on the amount over a 7 day period, but give all the soil a
good drench, not just around the base.. While the main base of the plant
does have some rather large roots, the majority of your plants root system
is all over your patch.. want to see , just go and drop a shovel into some
corner of yoru patch that is about a foot away from everything.. More than
likely you will come up with a shovel full of little capillary looking
roots, which is actually one of the biggest and most vital parts, when you
put the whole package together..
