water on stem

What does it mean when there are drops of water coming out of the stem of the pumpkin?  I have only one pumpkin, it is 10 days old.  It grew pretty good for the first 5 days and  not a bit since.  Now there is water dripping out of the stem where it is attached to the vine?  What is wrong and what caused it?
