Hello All,
Thanks to everyone for the replies in my search for an "Australian"
pumpkin. With the help of some folks here and a message to a grower
down-under, I now know what to plant.
The "Jarahdale", also known as the "Queensland Blue" in Australia, is
the common pumpkin grown in Autralia. The fellow, John, says it is grown
on farms and in gardens there. The top size seems to be about 15lbs
average. Not a giant but looks like it will meet my needs to grow for a
friend.
From this group, I learned there is a "local" weigh-off, with plants
provded by a local greenhouse in Bradford. We will go by there today and
see if they have any plants left. This info came to me from "Andy" just
about 15 minutes away in NY state. He has a web page, went there to look
around and found all kinds of information. He has a page that lists all
the seed types he has, it was like looking at "blood-lines" for purebred
dogs.Hope to meet him soon.
Thanks again All.
