More Rain
After several pumpkin growing days, the weather in southeastern
Minnesota turned wet and cold again. Last night, another 3.01 inches of
rain fell across the area. The temperatures for the next five days are
expected to be 4-8 degrees below normal -- that means some of the days
the high temperature will be below 70 degrees. Some more light rain is
expected before the weekend. It is hard to do too much in the patch when
the ground is so wet.
Even with all this rain and cool weather, the pumpkins continue to grow.
Presently, the 693 Heyne is doing the best with a 4 1/2 foot vine while
the 837 Thorson has a four foot vine. Most of my plants in previous
years were this large or larger at this point in time in June.
To those east of Minnesota -- All this rain is moving east - hope it
does not hit you as hard as it did us.
