I use styrofoam sheets. These are easily obtained from Home Depot or Lowe's 
and come in 4X8 ft. sheets. Easily cut to size, they make perfect pads for 
growing AGs.

I use styrofoam meat trays from the supermarket on the young, freshly 
pollinated females. Simply invert and place under the fruit to protect it 
from the soil. I usually place these small trays on the ground before the 
young fruit leans over to meet the soil.

No need to buy a large steak to get a meat tray, most markets will give you a 
few for the asking.
