RE: Dual main vine strategies

Hi Chris,
I'm looking at the same thing with my 871 Richart plant. Double main and
double first secondary. These have both divided into separate vines at
about 1 foot on the secondary and a foot and a half on the main. I am going
to turn the one on the left on the main and grow it as a secondary and
remove one from the secondary on the right. More accurately this plant
didn't behave normally from the start. I have no real main, what I got was
two double secondaries that came out one going left and one right. I have
turned the one on the left as it was longer and will train the right fork
down the middle of the patch. Both of these have divided so I will put them
to use. The plant otherwise looks very good with large leaves and a very
bushy center with double leaves and vines in the first foot of vine growth.
As long as they divide before getting too long I would use the vines. If it
keeps producing doubles as it grows I would start to get concerned.
