Yo Jon,
Let the main vine grow as far as you can or want. The side vines that
grow off it can be cut at whatever length you like...I let mine grow to
about 10' and then cut em off and cover the end with some soil. If you have
more than one main vine you can cut it off or let it grow...I cut em
off...they take up too much room.
