The 846 Calai is my best plant - ever!  Not even a hint of flatvining here.  Just a massive, awesome, total manic plant.  Everything is big:  The leaves - as big as any I've seen and stems approaching three feet high; The vines - twice the diameter of my next best plant; The stump - a massive, gnarly thing with roots emerging from the stem above the ground level; The females - the embryonic pumpkins under the flowers are twice the size of anything I've seen; The dragon root system - I can't dig anywhere within 15 feet of the stump without roots attacking me!  This plant is just big, bad and hungry.

I pollinated the first female today eight feet out on a secondary - a beautiful five lober with a long yellow fruit with faint green stripes.

First female on the Calai 846

The plant is already 21 feet long and 22 feet wide.  It has a leaf canopy of 330 square feet.  A young female sits 13 feet out on the main vine.  It looks to open in two or three days.  By then the leaf canopy should be about 400 square feet.  Twice the size of anything I've ever seen.

This plant is simply from another planet where everything is twice the size of this dimension.  I have a feeling that this plant will make a significant statement in a couple of months.

If anyone in the SF bay area needs some extraordinary males for pollinating, please let me know.
