Hi Gus
Great to hear from you, I am looking for the little things people might mention about a plant without being coaxed. Like I got a bunch of replies about Bobs 654, Most said it was the most vigorous plant in the patch some said it was a sleeper coming on slowly but building up steam. What I am doing especially on this seed and my 703 is see as people say Huge leaves, or skinny weak runner, or biggest trunk, I am trying to get a mental picture of the fruit and see if there is a relation ship between plant size or Vigor to the fruit its self. Another thing is I am trying to see on an open pollination if I can see if there are two plants growing identically in two different locations and see if they produce the same color fruit !! That is what I am looking for kind of around the back door genetic experiment but I DO NOT BELIEVE that an incredibly healthy/Vigerous plant will produce the biggest fruit, The reason they are bigger is because you tend to them more and what makes the plant bigger and more aggressive its ability to uptake the available nitrogen and nitrogen doesn't make pumpkins just leaves. Last year I fertilized almost exclusively with fish emulsion, Liquid kelp, 9-15-36 and 10-50-10. My plants were nice but the fruit produced on them were WAY superior to the aggressiveness of the plant. I will be trying this again this year and see how it proves out I cannot afford a giant plant with only 400 and 500 sqft plots so have to pack as much plant as I can in a small area and if I i pounded them with nitro I would be setting fruit 15 feet past the patch.. Well there it is my SOAP BOX FOR THE DAY !! HA HA take care buddy and have a wonderful year !!!!
PS since I wrote so much I am going to modify it and put it on the list so everyone can see what I am up to take care !!!
