Firs, I have two plant the 1230 Deletas and the 862.5 Hester squash, that finally started to run, but they are running straight up about 2 1/2 feet or more with no signs of slowing. I fear they are going to tip over.  Any Advice?  Second, both plants have extremely heavy vines, but they are not round--they are more flat.  Is this good, bad or normal?

You have a little trouble! If the vines are flat they may be mutants. In other words they will have a hard time setting a pumpkin. I have seen flat vines get as wide as 4 inches, They hare a hard time setting a pumpkin or a squash because they do not flex very well and tend to crack when they do set one. Try to slowly bend the plant to the ground, I have done this by using a milk jug with water in it then take a string and tie it to the vine and pull it the way you want it to go. Only go a little each day or the vine may crack. If the vine starts to get real wide, pinch the end and go for a side shoot.
Good Luck
You have a tough one!
