RE: Re:squash vine borers

Thanks for replying. I was just on the Drip Store's site for misters and for
settings on my EZ-GRO Fertlizer injector and they listed the slow setting,
15000:1 (gallons of water to fertilizer), as providing .008 oz per gallon,
or, according to them, 1/8 teaspoon, so 400 sq ft looks about right at about
1/4 teaspoon (.017 oz according to their webpage.) No, I'm not injecting
Warrior; it was the only site I found making reference to such small
hard-to-measure quantities with corresponding teaspoon equivalents.
Food for thought: I may be nitpicking here, but if you change the amount of
water, does this make a difference? For example, if I can cover a 400 sq ft
patch with a 1/2 gallon instead of a gallon, if I mixed a whole gallon (say
at 1/4 tsp), it would be half strength of mixing the 1/4 tsp in 1/2 gallon
of water? Or doesn't it matter because of the Zeon technology/capsulation
and the important part is the oz or lbs of the insecticide, regardless of
how much water is needed to apply it? Gus, if you go by the amount needed
regardless of the amount of water, wouldn't you need 1.25 teaspoons (0.08oz)
for 2000 sq ft? Plus these are at the minimum amounts (1.92oz/acre) and
heavy bug pressure has a higher dosage? OR was this a trial and error thing
since cucurbits aren't listed on the label?

Thanks.
Mark

You really don't want to know, but according to the directions, you need to
use 0.0044 oz. Per 100 sq. ft. GOOD LUCK!

Actually, I spray the same as Brad, 1/2 tsp per gallon of water every 14
days. This was sufficient for over 2000 sq. ft. of plants last year and I
had no insect problems.

One thing to keep in mind, it is the sticking agent in Warrior-T that makes
it so effective after a rain. I doubt if your shelf-bought product has this
agent. It is my understanding that this is the reason that Warrior is a
restricted use pesticide.

Can someone convert 1.92 ounces per acre to amount per 100 square feet? I'm
a city boy & only know what a city lot is, not an acre...

What was the active ingredient's percentage on the label?
(lambda-cyhalothrin % = ???) Warrior T's rate is 1.92 ounces for most crops
PER ACRE!! at 11.4%.

Maybe someone can convert that to "per hundred square feet" & we can just
multiply to suit our patch size? Then we can multiply by the percent ratio
between W-T & Triazicide. (I personally am more interested in the W-T amount
per 100 sq ft.)

Lee,
I discovered the same thing at Lowe's. I did double strength but I don't
know what the "other ingredients" is. I'm using it now along with another
insecticide. It should work, just be careful because I noticed some tinged
leaf ends that I don't know what caused it fert,, insecticide, or fungicide.
I'm from WV and am also attacked by the borer. Keep me informed and e-mail
me privately if you want at dec@stratuswave.net
