     I had the good fortune to meet Bill Greer at Nut Tree, Ca. in 1996.  He
was there with his 1006 pumpkin which was displayed at Nut Tree.  Bill was a
pioneer in our giant pumpkin sport/hobby.  The 1006 was a milestone in pumpkin
growing.  It was the first officially weighed pumpkin over 1000 lbs.  First
and foremost, I remember Bill as a truly nice person.  We will miss you, Bill.
