RE: Main Vine Splits - any hope?

Vertical splits have virtually no effect here in California.

Hi,
  I've gotten vine splits in the Main just a few inches from the stump
in 3 of
my 5 plants. Is there any hope for the plant?  Can I just bury the vine
at the
split part and move on or does the split take too much from the plant?

Love to hear to some experiences with this and how you handled it.
