RE: duct tape

Jim,

I had a main break clean off last year and I retrained a secondary that was
growing near the break as David mentioned. My pumpkin weighed in at 941
pounds (59 pounds short of the 1,000 mark).

Jim,
You're fine...just cut off the main vine and use a secondary as your new
main, don't try to use a bad main..unless a small tear...I try to grab a
secondary that is growing well near?the break...you can still grow?a big
pumpkin...1000+...the secondary will convert to a nice thick Main for you.

Jim: I have used twist ties from trash bags, just twist the split closed,
not
so tight that it cuts the vine, leave on for about 10 days then remove so
the
vine can grow.
