Jason,

Yes, I do. When the plants are planted, I place wire hoops over the plants
and cover the hoops with a 7'x9' row cover (remay). The keeps the wind,
bugs, cold, and small hail off the plants through the first week of June
when I remove the row cover. Keeping the wind off the plant really helps. If
the vine is still up, I place a little soil under the area where the vine is
moving down. This helps keep the vine from making a sudden movement down;
thus, snapping the vine. To keep the vine from blowing around, you might
want to place a small stake on either side of the vine to keep it from
blowing side-to-side. Usually, when I remove the row cover, the vine is
already down.

I have had the wind snap a vine when I uncovered the plant before the vine
was down. It is not a nice sight to see.
