One person I know actually builds a little cabana for each of his pumpkins,
using a tarp and stakes, leaving the shelter open on the north. He also
erects netting over his vines to protect against stray hailstorms.
Anything goes when you're trying to be a Lord of the Gourd.

It's about 100+ for the next 2 months here. I haven't bought shade cloth
yet. Should I get enough to put it on the sides (East and West) of patch too
or just the top? The height of shadecloth canopy will be about 6 feet above
ground.
