When I have this problem I use diazion. I'm not sure why the ants come to
visit. But it's not a good deal. Get rid of them. The ants do like the
aphid waste. Do you have aphids on your leaves? Check underside. I had ants
on my soil surface when there was no foliage growth. I still treated with
the diazion. It has been one month and they are starting to return. The
compost we used this year was not totally broke down and there may be
something in the soil that these ants like! Shellie Cramer
