Planted Monday evening 4/14/97.

It has finally warmed up in New England starting the beginning of last week.
 The plants have really started to take off.

Temperatures since 5/26/97 update:

High: 92 (6/11/97 2 days above 90)
Low: 33 (5/27/97 Ground level frost)


Planted in heated Direct Start Mounds, covered at night with a blanket.  (See
article on Dan’s Pumpkin Page for details.)  All mounds have had their window
top removed a window wall erected around them with a partial top.

Mound #1

AG-553-92-GB (8 frozen seeds) Child of Ray Waterman’s 780.5 Parent of my 93
641 and a 93 630 in NH.

Update 6/15/97:  largest leaf 19", Vine length 9’ 1" thinned to 1 plant on
5/31/97.  Removed Window Wall on 6/7/97

Mound #2

Primary: AG-717-91-MM (2 Frozen Seeds) Mike MacDonald parent of many 700+.

Update 6/15/97:  largest leaf 19", Vine length 9’ 9".  Removed Window Wall on
6/7/97.  First male flower on 6/14/97 first female bloom at 6’ to open within
one or two days.
