Minnesota Update

Thought I would give you all an update on the length of my giant pumpkin
vines even though most of the lengths are behind those posted this
past week. As of June 14, my shortest vine was 16 inches ( 690 Schlutt)
and my longest was 45 inches ( 774 Baird). I also have a 44 inch vine (652
Baird) and a 40 inch (884 x 722). The vines are growing at a rate of 4-6
inches a day. Of my 12 giant pumpkin plants, the 1061 Zehr is number 11
with a 20 inch vine. Most of the plants have 15-16 inch leaves. My largest
leaf is 17 inches.
Tom Tweite, another Rochester area giant pumpkin grower has six plants
and all his vines are 4-6 feet. The leaves on Tom's plants are 18-20
inches in size. He has planted the 603 Baird, 652 Baird, 1061 Zehr, 1006
Greer, and a couple others.
The weather has been nice in this part of the country since May 31 which
we are grateful for especially after hearing how bad it has been in the
rest of the country.
