3 seed leaves and SD Update

Just a curiosity: I direct seeded some Jack-be-Quick pumpkins and one
of them has 3 primary leaves upon sprouting and now is developing its
first true leaf same as the others that had the usual 2 primary leaves.

Any known or speculated significance to 3 primary leaves on a pumpkin
plant?

SD Update: Vines about 3 feet out on a very vigorous looking Holland
739, and just a bit shorter on Holland 768 and Grant 745. One of these
plants is going to have to be culled soon -- hmmm, which one? Or stated
another way which two would make the best cross?

Consistently windy here in Sioux Falls, but ideal temperatures and lots
of sun past week and this week. Started burying vines.

Some aphids on other plants in garden but not pumpkins yet. A few
grasshopper nymphs around. No sign of vine borer moth or cuke beetles
yet ... just waiting and planning my first spraying with Sevin
(probably). Wondering if too late to apply some beneficial nematodes
as I never got around to it earlier...

Enjoying all the activity on the list lately!

Wishing all good weather,
