which plants to sacrifice

I'm closing in on the moment when I will have to sacrifice a plant due to
space considerations.
What features do you-all consider in making that call?  The seed, plant
size, and the presence/absence of disease are obvious factors, but what are
some of the more subtle indicators of plant health?  Leaf texture?   Color?
Tendency to wilt in the sun?
