Re: How long till pollination?

Mark

I don't know what the "standard" time is, but this year, mine seem very slow
compared to other years. I've had one female for about 10 days now, and it
looks like at least 5 or more days till it will bloom. My male flowers seem
slow too. I've had male flowers for about a month, and none of them have
bloomed yet. The plant is doing quite well otherwise although the vine
growth has been only about 3.8" per day since June 16 (11 days).

It may have something to do with the weather, as average temps. have only
been around 20c (70F) for the last three weeks and nights about 10c (50F),
and there have been a lot of cloudy days, showers, and rain. I don't have
enough experience to say if weather has a great effect on flowering or not.

In addition to the weather factor, I also tilled in a fair amount of cattle
manure 11 days ago. I used some of this same mixture to bury the vines and
some has been splashed up on the leaves, stems, and flowers by rainfall.
This may or may not have affected the growth.

Any other comments out there?
