   No, plastic is fine and it does warm the plant up. My patch is totally
automatic with watering and fertilizing for I can't be there as much as I
would like. A total plastic house is better in cool weather but when I'm not
there it can heat up too high. It would be easy enough for me to automate the
greenhouse to open at a certain temp., but I chose not to go that far with the
high tech stuff. So some days I'm a little cooler than I would like, but I
don't start my plants real early. My plant might get off to a slightly slower
start than some ( I have a 2 foot vine on my biggest) but I've found with my
climate that my pumpkin always finishes up with time to spare.I've found the
light weight burlap is tough and lets a little air through. I will set fruit
by mid July and will be winding down by mid Sept.
