Its a sad day in California as it seems there is problems with pumpkin
politics with our GPC site....and one of the best sponsors in the world who
coughed up the dough consistantly for years... to create the" ultimate
dream for a pumpkin grower"......... to be the biggest in the world that
year and win the $10.00 a pound...to be flown over to Nut Tree Ca.......to
show it off........Not to slight the incredible $50,000 that the WPC
Coughed up....so everyone....had there moments of dreaming of the first
1000lber..( I used to fret how if i hit a 1000lbs how would I get it there)
its fun to worry about those kinda things.....but who can cough up this
kinda money on a regular basis??......these kind of sponsors are hard to
find because they love pumpkins and not everyone does....(hard to believe i
know)but its true.......I wished i had expressed my gratitude more to these
dream makers.....because you go out to patch and it seems like alot of work
now.....the day dreams really helped get me going.....you know the fantasy
of winning the lotto.....or the projections if the pumpkins continues on
this kind of pace I'll hit 1500lbs......pumpkin growers are passionate
people.......Heres quote from a pumpkin friend who's a poet and didn't know
it..........................................................................
............................................................................
........I was sick to my stomach when he told me that. I just couldn't
believe
it. Nut Tree was it, that's all there is to it. Everybody competeted at
Nut Tree/Dixon. It's been that way for years.
What's worse is we have lost the old feeling we used to get when we were
driving to the contest. The same old route, the same old exit, the
feeling we used to get pulling into the huge parking lot, It will never
be the same.
............................................................................
............................................................................
......
You get lost in this game, it makes life more fun! and you can feel the
passion of a pumpkin grower...........i am to naive to understand all the
politics ....the course there taking....all i understand is how much I 'd
miss it if it was all gone...............brock
