Re: Sudden AG Pumpkin Death (Almost)

George,

I had a bad feeling this afternoon as I walked into the back yard after a
long day at the office. My wife and a fellow pumpkin grower were sitting
on the grass just looking at me. I asked what's up? They just stared and
said oh nothing. I again asked the same question noting that something
might be wrong. I vaguely recall them saying something about wilt. I
immediately walked out to the patch and there it was. Just what you
described "Sudden AG Pumpkin Death Syndrome". As I circled my patch like
an angry lyon wondering what has destroyed my prized 697 C. I thought of
the new syndrome I read about on the net.
This plant was to be the one. I went to great lengths to obtain the
prized seed. I took great care to protect it from the elements. I planted
it in the best patch.(I can't believe I'm carrying on like this.)

After careful examination I found a large split in the stalk. It looks
like it didn't survive the gusty winds last week and didn't show the
stress until the temperature warmed up.
