George,

I know bacterial wilt can set in hard and fast like that.  I believe
that a test for it is to use a knife to cut into the vine and if you've
got a sticky, stringy gelatinous substance there then its bacterial
wilt.  I'd have to look up whether it can be treated, but I'm doubtful. 
If you can't isolate it from your other plants (you have quite a few --
12? -- if I recall) I would pull it and dispose of it elsewhere.
