blossoms

A comment to today's mail ;

In regard to blossoms, if I don't see any females near being ready I'll
snap off the male blossoms to get rid of their bug attracting qualities.
I hate bugs crawling around, I just don't see any benefits, even if
they're harmless. I suppose, however, there could be the potential for
more energy for vine growth without the blossoms.

I like to know if the number of male sections in a flower has anything
to do with potential. The first flower I had on this year had seven !

Also, two years ago I had several female blossom's with six
lobes/sections. Is that unusual? Is it desired ? Beneficial ?

Thanks;
