A long time ago, in a pumpkin patch far far away, there was an Oregon Update
for everyone to read. Overall, soil is looking very nice, many shades darker
than last year, holds more moisture while having better drainage. Mosaic
virus is no, I was getting false symptoms due to the cool weather and
distorted sunlight from the cloches. All cloches are down now and soil temps
are warming. Air temps have been a little cooler than last year, but hey,
its all good.
Here it is, and to not jinx anything, I will be very non descriptive.....
Site Sub Zero... #560 LaRue, Doing well with runner.
Site Zero... #990 Bax, Doing well with runner.
Site #1... #738 Stellpflug, doing very well with thick runner.
#900.5 Lyons, Doing very well with long runner.
Site #2... #469 Hester, Doing well with runner.
#825 Shymanski, doing very well with runner, largest leaf.
Site #3(Erichs Site)...#469 Hester, doing okay, too much fert at first.
#737 Stellpflug, doing okay, too much fert at
first.
#801.5 Stelts, doing very well with runner.
Site #4..... #879 Holland, Doing very well with long runner.
#866 Mombert, Doing okay, flat vine main runner through first
two leaf
junctions, then split into three normal runners.
Improving every day.
Site #5......# 946.5 Geerts, Doing well with runner.
Site #6... #1010 Mackenzie, Doing well, planted two weeks later than others,
but
With a small runner.
#697 Ciliberto, Doing very very well, with long thick runner,
leaf stalks,
and large leaves already.
Site #7... #935 Lloyd, Doing well with runner.
Site P-1....#449 Marcellus, Doing well with runner.
Site P-2....#720 Hester, Doing well with runner.
The Test patch is now coming along nicely with the 35 plants over there in
the 5-6 leaf stage. It will be interesting to see what comes out of that
patch.
Take Care, and Good Luck, and as of now 13 plants are better than my #627.5
plant from last year for those of you who have been around since then.
