roots will go as far down as your soil allows and as far as you water.
They will also go pretty far to the sides, again, depending on where the
water and nutrients are. So if you prepaired your soil well and you water a
large area, you should have good root development. Also, to further your
root development, us a high phosphate fertilizer early in the season with
something like Miricle Grow.
