Re: squash bugs

Has anyone tried soap and cooking oil on Pumpkin vines? That is my
favorite spray for Greeenhouse use after spending $100 for Talstar, etc.
Talstar was a miracle, compared to other sprays, but only soap and salad
oil allowed me to produce a crop of raspberry from stage IV
microcuttings.
I have not tried it on squash bugs and other outdoor pests except that
ourdoor Rubus did well with only soap and cooking oil.
The big problem is seems impossible to get out of sprayer tanks and
nozzles. Always clean the sprayer immediately.
Ivary bar Soap and cooking oils have never damaged any plant, but I
have not tested it Cucurbits. Sometimes I put so much on that the plants
glisten after dry (40 ml per gallon gives glisten). There is a
possiblity that as the oil turns rancid on the leaves, that might repell
some insects.
