Grass Clippings

I have a few different garden plots this year. Many pumpkin plants
growing. Is there any drawbacks in putting fresh grass clippings around
the plants to help control weeds and hold moisture? The clippings have no
weed kill or herbicides in them, just high nitro lawn fertilizer. Good
idea??
