News from Baton Rouge, LA

Friends:

Just got a call from Frank Millican. He had just come in from the patch after
discovering a field rat made a hole in his back-up pumpkin set on the 819
Stephenson plant.

The lost fruit was 352 pounds, a good weight for this time of year.

The bigger fruit (532 lbs. by charts) on the same plant was unharmed, and
steps have been taken to assure the vermin keep away (poison traps).

Frank has two Stephenson 819 plants going right now with 4 more fruit ranging
in weights from 250-532lbs.

If anyone has any other suggestions to keep rats away, please feel free to
post your ideas here on the list.

Barb
