I had that problem last year but this year have been training the ends
downward daily with bent pieces of electrical wire (like 12-2). I cut
the pieces about 12" long before bending into a U shape then stick it in
the ground about 6-10" from the end of the growing vine. This keeps the
pliable end of the vine close to the ground. I move them daily or as
needed. I've also used metal coathangers, that are cut, with a piece
plastic tubing covering it to protect the vine.
