hot water

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to refine my watering/cooling system this year. Here's a
question. When I've got a hose stretched across the yard and the sun is out
and it's hot, the water that comes out at first could brew a good cup of
coffee, it's so hot. Then, depending on the weather & humidity I may only
turn it on for a minute or two. I'm trying to cool the plants, not cook
them. What's the most efficient way to keep that water from being so hot??
If I did this with PVC would the water stay cooler than in a garden hose?
What about if I put the hose through the fattest PVC pipe I could find, so
the hose would be in the pipe rather than in direct sun, plus have a little
air around it inside the pipe? Maybe I need to plant a row of little
umbrellas and lay the hose under them???

Last year the hose was in shade almost the whole way, and I just propped a
board so it shaded the hose where it was in the sun, but at our new patch
it's a longer distance in the sun.

Thanks,
Beth
