Pruning Vines

Can someone give me some suggestions on pruning vines? I am a first time
grower and am having a great time with a big beautiful AG plant. Should I
take the perpendicular vines growing from my main vine off or cut and bury
the ends at a certain point? Should I terminate other vines and bury their
ends, except for my main and secondary vines? I have yet to set pumpkins
but will in the next week or two and am aware of burying the ends of the
main and secondary vines several feet beyond my pumpkin(s) late on in the
process. Any help here would be appreciated.
