You both have misunderstood me....I AM NOT offering any seeds form an
infected plant.
The seeds that I am offering were from the one plant that was NOT infected
whatsoever, (therefore not only clean to start with, but showing a CMV
resistance trait).
I AM NOT offering the seeds from the pumpkin that had the virus.
I thought that was made clear.
I was giving the history of my plants and the seeds from last season that I
have. Not ONLY was the plant that I am offering seeds from 100% clean of
virus while growing...I decided to verify that (only because there were
other plants in the area that did have the virus) by performing additional
tests on the plant, and the pulverized seeds as well, BOTH confirm that the
plant is 100% virus free. I didn't really NEED confirmation, I aready knew
the plant had no virus whatsoever, but wanted the hard facts to back it up,
because of skeptics who gave me a hard time before. (And all this even with
evidence that viral transmission via seed is very unlikely. There has not
been ONE case to my knowledge- and I did a lot of research- of this EVER
happening).
As for the other seeds from the infected plant (which I AM NOT offering
here, those will mainly go for scientific reasearch on CMV effects in seeds
(damaged genetics, etc.)), they were kept because the virus hit the plants
late in the season, and the genetics ARE worth the extra efforts it takes to
contain the plants to prevent spread. (Which is costly but can be done, and
can be even more effective than pulling the plants and leaving the area and
small remaining debris exposed - and there is always some even after the
most thorough pulling). The genetics would be hard to duplicate (if not
almost impossible, since the seeds of the parents are pretty much depleted
in supply).
Anyway I didn't want my long talk about viruses to make anyone think I am
offering seeds from the infected plants, I am not. The seeds I am offering
are 100% virus free, and came from 100% virus free plants. The seeds have
even been further tested to confirm this, have yours?
Just about ANY other seeds out there have a higher chance of having virus
than these! I just want to clear that up!
