Re: Grow Lights
I have started seedlings of many vegetables including giant pumpkins under
grow lights. One of the drawbacks I have found is that the seedlings are very
vulnerable to the suns rays once you move them outdoors. You must harden them
over several days moving them from the grow lights outdoors, and then back
under the lights again.
Regarding regular flourescent fixtures vs plant gro bulbs: I remember reading
that the gro lux tubes emit rays that allegedly cover the color spectrum of
the sun. Regular tubes lack red rays. If I remember correctly, they are
esential for root growth. Usually I use one regualr tube and one gro lux per
fixture. Plants always look fine.
