Gus, Using a soaker hose is a good idea but, one must pack down the soil well because it tends to shrink
down after awhile. I went with a 50/50 mix of compost and soil, the terrace stayed wet and WARM all the time.
As the fruit grew, I really didn't have to do much adjusting it seemed to grow down onto the level with no problems.I remember taking some soil away so I could get a good measurement. The 603 had good shoulders under the handle and the bottom did not seem as flat like in years past. The plant was easy to take care of and water being it was so small. This was one of the reasons I did the terrace thing I knew I would have limited space for rooting.I have always had trouble cutting some of the best roots that the plant has to offer!! As far as hydroponics I could not say, I know little of this type of growing. But I would try anything once!
