proven seed

I was wondering how one may attempt to acquire some proven seed. So far my attempts have been like trying to find arrow heads or buffalo nickles...heee..hee
Seriously, I'd like to grow a 500#er this year. My largest is 303. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, I have no proven seed myself and am willing to pay for them.
