first time grower
Jade, I have a sister in WI and a sister in Seattle, WA. The rest of my
family is around here in Oregon. None, of them are quite into gardening as
I am. I think it is just wonderful that your family is involved! I am
jealous that you also have all the cow manure you want. I am still looking
for a source for us. Last year our three kids grew store bought pumpkin
seeds and took them to contest in October. (75-85#) This will be my first
attempt at a big one. Of course the kids all want to grow one, too. This
is going to take up more space. Which we have plenty of space. I just
won't have time to care for the kids as well as my two plants. So, if they
want to do they are going to have to do it them selves, mostly. We are part
of the Pacific NW Giant Pumpkin Growers Assoc. We just joined during the
seminar a couple of weeks ago. My husband tilled the soil and we are
waiting for the results of our soil test. I am anxious to get started with
seeds.
