Re: Its the pits
Yo Beth, Chris etc,
My pits are 10'x20'x3' deep and have been dug out since
last October. In a couple of weeks I will put 18" layer of fresh horsemanure
in them and backfill with topsoil. Within a week the soil will be warmed by
the rotting manure and stay warm for a couple of months while the plants
roots race through the ground with no trouble.By then the weather has warmed
and the root system is in place ready to pump up the fruit. I also have a
large coldframe over the pits also 10'x20'. Works a treat.
