Re: Hard Pan
Fortunatly I'm not the one with the hardpan. I have
completly different soil problems, namely gravelly loam,
and low in nutrients. Every spring I rake more rocks off of
it, but I'm making progress. I tilled an area of it
yesterday, and only tossed out a half dozen or so. My soil
test is much better than last year's test was, and I've
reammended it again. Maybe I'll get a reasonable pumpkin
this year. The good news with this soil is I can till it
any time of year and it won't clod, it doesn't compact
either. I do have to water every day though, it doesn't
hold water, humus has helped, but it still doesn't hold
well.
