Hi list
Well everyone we have had beautiful weather here in Torrance and I have
plants growing like weeds in my landscape. I planted my 703*, 594, and 758
seeds just to see what they would do. I lost about 10 plants due to some
sneak frosts until I found a frost free part of my yard and now have some
impressive plants. To all of those of you with the white cover crop or just
the chilly weather hopefully this update warms your day !!!
594 Smith one plant started about 9 leaves, Heaviest trunk I have ever
seen without being a flat vine, BIG leaves for plant size and extremely
healthy, growing fast.
758 Smith I had a 3 foot plant going but I guess frost took it, the one
now has about 10 leaves nice sturdy plant great color and is growing right
on
schedule.
703* Smith Biggest plant due to age. 4 feet long and covered with female
and male flowers. Runners medium in size leaves average in size like its
mommy. female ova behind the flowers light green and about the size of a
pinkie, I will know more in the next few days as to color of fruit. Unlike
mommy it has fruit everywhere so we will have to see what it does !!! I have
three more 703 plants going to see if they will produce squash or pumpkins
and should know before the season starts unless we get a BAD frost and they
die.
YES I will pull these plants as soon as I know what they will produce so
no
EARLY starts to the 2002 Season.. I wish everyone the best of luck in the
2002 Season !!!
